The Draz Fam

On Thursday Drew turned six. We are on vacation in northern Minnesota, so it was easy to let him plan the day… and he had no trouble doing so! Since Drew loves animals, his first stop was the zoo where he met a black bear up close and personal.

If you know Drew, you know that his very favorite food is French fries so the next stop was, of course, MacDonald’s. Drew received a “Happy Birthday” stuffed bear and a special Ronald MacDonald plate from the staff.

Next on Drew’s agenda was toy shopping at Fleet Farm. (You probably aren’t aware that Fleet Farm has one of the best collections of small, lifelike plastic animals. They’re light enough for Drew to hold and he and his papa play with them for hours–often making up stories with a bit more animal violence than nana approves of).

Papa has been doing a lot of yard work this summer. Ry found a wheelbarrow and claimed he was “just like papa!”

Where was Karli during all this activity? Just hanging out–with a great big smile–as usual!

A highlight of Drew’s special day was when Auntie Kirstin and Michael arrived bearing birthday gifts and good wishes.

After some time in the pool and the hot tub, Drew ended the evening doing some “surfing” in his scoot outside in the parking lot.

Drew’s sixth birthday was a magical day. But… the celebration is not over. Because we were out of town, papa, Tommy, Uncle Matt, Uncle Mark and Nikki were unable to attend. So, auntie will be continuing the celebration with a birthday party at home some time soon.
