For the past year I have been blogging about Drew’s life in a different format. As Drew gets ready to enter school, I recognized that he had outgrown the “little boy” blue theme and decided it was time for a new format. Also, while I will continue to share Drew’s story, I will now be including the stories of his brother and sister. After all, Drew’s life is entwined with their lives. I hope you will be patient with me as I learn to use this new format. Drew is an absolutely amazing child and I look forward to continuing to share his story in the months and years ahead. This is a blog about a normal family with three very special children. Please check the ABOUT page for details.
As I write this first blog the Draz family is on their annual week-long vacation at Breezy Point. As Drew’s official night-time buddy, I am lucky to be included. These are wonderful, memory-making, lazy summer days. The family is just enjoying being together 24/7. Activities thus far have included lunch at MacDonald’s, shopping for new toys at WalMart, a visit to a local zoo, lots of swimming and just being together.
One of my favorite moments thus far was when Drew offered to help his mom push the cart out of Walmart:
I’m not sure how long it will take to get this new blog up and running, but as soon as it is I’ll post pictures and more stories about the vacation. Also, tomorrow is a very big day as we celebrate Drew’s SIXTH birthday!
Last night as Drew and I snuggled in bed (he was hooked up to his oximeter and bi-pap and very drowsy) I asked him what his favorite part of the day had been. He answered, “I don’t really know, nana, but my favorite thing at night is you.” I knew that at that moment there was not one person on this planet luckier than me.
