It’s now a tradition: whenever Drew is released from the hospital, Auntie Kirstin hosts a junk food party for him. It all started during one of Drew’s prolonged visits to the hospital. Auntie wanted to give him something to look forward to, so she promised him a homecoming party complete with junk food. Because Drew has lost his ability to swallow well, he is very limited in the foods that he can eat. Luckily his favorite junk foods are those which almost dissolve in his mouth.
Drew has actually been home for quite a while. However, it took him quite a long time to completely recover. He has been waiting and waiting for his celebration party and yesterday it finally arrived. Auntie knows that Drew is now in lock-down so she disinfected everything in preparation for Drew’s visit.
Drew was so happy to see his cousins. First the boys played on the computer. Then it was time for the junk food. They relaxed with a movie after the snack and ended the day with crafts. Thank you, Auntie, for giving Drew a day to remember! Although Drew does love his junk food parties, we’re hoping it will be the only one of the year. We would like to find another cause for celebration other than Drew being discharged from the hospital.
