Like most children the Draz kids look forward to holidays and family celebrations. For many families the Thanksgiving festivities were probably limited to that one day. However, the Draz family managed to extend the celebration for almost a week and the children loved every minute of it.
Nikki began the celebration on Tuesday and Wednesday by helping the children make turkey decorations for the table and bake a pumpkin pie. Then on Wednesday evening Tommy and Auntie Kirstin arrived after work to bake brownies for Thanksgiving dinner and, best of all, to have a sleep over in Drew’s room. The boys played DS, watched TV and ate the entire pumpkin pie–with lots of whipped cream–before retiring for the night.
On Thanksgiving Day Claire and Anna joined Tommy and Michael’s family as guests of the Draz Fam. Anna read Thanksgiving books to the children while the meal preparations were completed. Then everyone enjoyed dinner around the table. Drew helped serve dessert later in the afternoon. Auntie happened to have her guitar, so Anna entertained everyone with a couple of requested songs. After the cousins left Anna helped Drew and Ryan with some crafts. (Special note to great-gramma: be sure to watch your mail for some homemade Christmas decorations.)
By the next morning, most of the country had moved on to Black Friday. However, for the Draz kids, some of the best Thanksgiving moments were yet to come. On Friday afternoon grandpa and muumuu Draz arrived to spend a couple of days. There was plenty of good food and good times during their stay. On Sunday afternoon the boys watched the Vikings with their dad and Uncle Matt. They were really glad to see Nikki who returned after spending the holiday with her family.
Memories were certainly made during this extended Thanksgiving Day celebration. A big thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped create them!
